Diffusion of knowledge as growth driver

Diffusion of knowledge – Knowledge transfer within an organization is a powerful tool to initiate or accelerate growth.

Instead of relying on a few individuals with concentrated expertise to drive progress, knowledge spillovers leverage contributions from multiple people with diverse experiences.

This approach engages knowledge holders to share insights that can help others solve problems

Two mechanisms that have worked well for us:

1.       Implementation of organizational mechanisms

Formal communication of knowledge and know-how (e.g. newsletters, visible knowledge/know-how boards), creating opportunities and space for employees to share and acquire knowledge independently.

2.       Through interaction

Knowledge transfers can be increased through frequent interactions in small teams with clear objectives. The growth effect is primarily driven by effective personal collaboration, while also reducing the misalignment over goals and implementation methods. Collaborative efforts also foster stronger social bonds within the organization.

These mechanisms are also highly valuable in succession planning and during the onboarding of new hires.
